Muscatine residents have a chance to learn life-saving skills, as the Muscatine Fire Department hosted a free Stop the Bleed training Sunday. The hands-on session taught attendees how to respond to traumatic bleeding before first responders arrive. Instructors emphasized three core techniques: apply direct pressure, pack wounds to control bleeding, and use a tourniquet when bleeding cannot be stopped by pressure alone. Firefighter Drake Rudolph noted that bleeding can be fatal within minutes, and EMS responses typically take five to seven minutes, underscoring the value of bystander intervention. The department currently offers the training once a quarter and is open to providing sessions for local businesses as well. Nearby efforts include Scott County’s purchase of Stop the Bleed kits funded by a grant. By equipping residents with Stop the Bleed skills, Muscatine aims to improve early trauma care and save lives. Attendees gain confidence in emergencies. For More Information https://www.kwqc.com/2026/05/10/what-do-during-bleeding-emergency-muscatine-fire-offers-free-training/
