Cuyahoga Falls City Council approved borrowing $8.4 million in bonds to fund a new Fire Station 4 and firefighter training facility at 849 Bath Road. The station should be finished by year’s end, with the training facility completed next summer.
The site will include equipment bays, a watch office and amenities for six firefighters, and a 40-foot burn tower for search-and-rescue, extinguishment and venting practice.
Akron firefighters will be among those allowed to use the facility, which officials describe as state-of-the-art and in high demand.
Station 4 serves Steels Corners and the area extending into the national park; mutual aid is provided to nearby jurisdictions, including Akron.
