Beaver Dam firefighters have completed the first three days of their Recruit Academy, establishing a foundation in department knowledge, safety, teamwork and basic firefighting skills.
Day one covered administrative requirements, orientation and policies, helping recruits understand the organization and expected standards.
Day two focused on PPE and SCBA, with drills donning gear and operating in full equipment, plus classroom instruction on fire behavior to build confidence and air management.
Day three emphasized hoselines and equipment, including deploying hoses and advancing charged lines, and included a controlled burn observation to illustrate fire development.
Officials said the recruits are off to a strong start, though substantial training remains as they prepare for service.
