The son of a fallen Lawrenceburg firefighter has completed his basic firefighter training at the Jason Dickey Memorial Training Center, the facility named in his father’s honor. Kason Dickey’s achievement marks a poignant milestone for the Lawrenceburg Fire Department and Lawrence County Fire & Rescue. Officials say the center has trained hundreds of students from Lawrence and surrounding counties since groundbreaking in 2019, thanks to donations from all 15 volunteer departments and major gifts from the community. The project also benefited from State funds and from NATRA, along with local sponsorships that helped pay off an initial loan. The most recent class included children of several firefighters who helped build the center, with many co‑workers serving as instructors. McDow emphasized that the center’s mission is alive and well, continuing to train first responders. Community leaders praised the project for strengthening local safety and hometown pride everyday.
