Liberty Twp. is weighing whether it’s cost effective to build a modular fire training facility at the fire headquarters on Ohio 747, just south of Princeton Road. Before a decision, trustees must determine whether township zoning would allow the facility at that site, and more detailed plans will be drawn for the zoning commission.
The concept has been in discussion for more than a year and aligns with the fire department’s strategic plan.
The estimated cost is $630,000 and the modular facility would include hose movement, water flow, obstacles, low-light operations, medical and rescue scenarios.
It would allow department-wide and neighboring-jurisdiction training without delaying responses; training is currently conducted at stations and Butler Tech’s facilities.
