Gearhart Fire Department conducted a training exercise at Clatsop Community College’s MERTS campus on Sept. 16, using new props. Firefighters cut through a simulated garage door, breached a window, forced a door and advanced a charged hose through a smoke-filled hallway, then located a life-size dummy and moved it back through the obstacles.
The garage-door, window and door/hinge props were purchased by CCC’s Fire Science Program with support from the Roundhouse Foundation to support integrated, continuous training for CCC students and regional departments. A MaxFire Box funded by Roundhouse lets instructors study fire and smoke movement and ventilation, strengthening CCC’s regional training role.
