Muscatine firefighters recently completed hands‑on EMS training through SIM-IA, a statewide program from University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Over three days, the department trained in two fully equipped simulation rooms—one modeled after an ambulance, the other an ER bay—using SIM-IA’s mobile, no-cost approach.
This is Muscatine Fire's second SIM-IA training; they first used it in December 2020. The recent sessions covered high-risk, low-frequency cases, including a pediatric heat emergency and an obstetric delivery, with teams of two and instructors voicing the victims. Debriefs followed each scenario to review performance and translate it to patient care.
