Attack Rig
An upgraded attack rig is now part of Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service’s training arsenal, aimed at sharpening firefighter response to real life incidents. Installed at the Chelveston training centre, the new container replaces the aging rig first introduced when the site opened in the early 2010s. Together with the existing demo rig, it forms a realistic training pathway for both recruits and seasoned firefighters, allowing observation of conditions and controlled fire development at extreme temperatures before practicing on the attack rig. This upgrade demonstrates credible, practical prowess in training that mirrors the pressures crews face during actual emergencies every day. Jason Lister, training projects manager, said the overhaul keeps training authentic and safer for crews, enabling them to protect people and property more effectively. The purchase signals a continued commitment to realistic rehearsal, skill refreshers, and safe operation during high-risk incidents. Friday, 27 February 2026.
