Mashpee Fire & Rescue recently hosted a week-long, on-site training program designed to deliver real-world firefighting skills in a hands-on setting. Significantly, Instructors from the Cape Cod Center for Public Safety Training’s Fire Program Division led the sessions at the Mashpee department, employing NFPA-aligned curricula and a mobile forcible-entry door prop to simulate critical entry scenarios. The collaboration, supported by Barnstable County and the Cape Cod Fire Chiefs Association, underscores the region’s commitment to regional training for 19 Cape Cod fire departments. Attendees included on-duty personnel and volunteers, who gained practical experience in high-pressure drills while safety measures remained a priority. The county’s training team provides equipment and props across departments, expanding access to essential skills through mobile, on-site delivery. Such partnerships pave the way for ongoing joint exercises and faster mutual aid in emergencies. This initiative strengthens local readiness and mutual-aid capability across the Cape.
