State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine and Massachusetts Firefighting Academy leadership today announced the graduation of 31 firefighters from the 50-day Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program. The Class #331 graduates hail from departments including Amesbury, Avon, Lexington, Littleton, Lynn, Milford, Nantucket, Salem, Somerville, Stoneham, Waltham, Wayland, Westborough, and Wilmington. The rigorous, 10-week program blends classroom instruction with live-fire exercises, focusing on life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation, and fire attack. Upon completion, graduates meet NFPA 1001 standards and earn Firefighter I/II and Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations certificates through the Massachusetts Fire Training Council, accredited by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications. The MFA emphasizes teamwork with veteran crews and preparation for a broad range of hazards, from chemical spills to rescue missions. The Richard N. Bangs Outstanding Student Award was presented to Lynn Fire Department firefighter Christian Fabrizio.
